Use a Non-Stick Spray or Butter

Liberally spray the silicone molds with a non-stick cooking spray. Alternatively, you can grease them thoroughly with softened butter using a pastry brush or your fingers. The goal is to create a slippery surface that prevents the cupcakes from adhering.

Flour the Molds

Sprinkle a thin layer of flour into the silicone molds. Tap or shake the molds to distribute the flour evenly and remove any excess. Flouring creates a barrier between the cupcakes and the silicone, further reducing the likelihood of sticking.

Chill the Batter

Before filling the molds, refrigerate the batter for at least 30 minutes. This firms up the batter and helps it hold its shape during baking, minimizing the risk of overflowing and sticking to the sides.

Fill the Molds Appropriately

Avoid overfilling the silicone molds. Fill them only 2/3 full to allow for the cupcakes to rise without spilling over and sticking to the edges.

Use a Muffin Pan

Place the silicone molds within a muffin pan for added support. This prevents them from warping or collapsing during baking, ensuring that the cupcakes remain intact and do not stick to the pan.

Line the Molds with Paper Liners

Consider using paper cupcake liners to line the silicone molds. This additional layer provides a barrier between the cupcakes and the silicone, making it even less likely for them to stick.

Clean the Molds Thoroughly

Before and after each use, thoroughly clean the silicone molds using warm soapy water and a soft sponge or brush. Remove any excess moisture by air-drying or using a clean towel. Clean molds are less likely to accumulate residue that could cause sticking.

Avoid Overbaking

Overbaking can cause the cupcakes to dry out and stick to the molds. Bake them according to the recipe instructions and use a toothpick to check for doneness. When the toothpick comes out clean, the cupcakes are ready.

Flip the Molds Immediately

Once the cupcakes are baked, allow them to cool for a few minutes in the silicone molds before flipping them out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Flipping them over while hot prevents them from cooling and sticking to the molds.

Troubleshooting Sticky Cupcakes

If your cupcakes still stick to the silicone molds despite following these tips, try the following:

Use a wider spatula for flipping to avoid putting pressure on the tops of the cupcakes.

Allow the cupcakes to cool for a longer period before inverting them.

Gently loosen the edges of the cupcakes using a small knife or toothpick before flipping.

Consider using different silicone molds or a different type of cupcake batter.
